What we're actually rich in
Modern Savage
Bear has a way of saying what all of this is for, and it is not the fitness.
Money, fitness and achievement are all proxies. We chase them because they stand in for the thing we actually want, which is a life full of people we love and who love us back. Then we get so good at chasing the proxy that we forget what it was standing in for, and we end up rich, fit and successful and eating dinner on our own.
Bear says raising his three sons has been the greatest adventure of his life, and this from a man who has stood on top of Everest.
So this is the measure we would ask you to use. Count your wealth in relationships. How many people would drive through the night for you. How many people you would do it for. Whether the people in your own house know they are the reason for your day rather than the interruption to it.
If the answer is thin, that is the training plan for the year, and it is the only one that matters.
