Short on sun and salt

Modern Savage

Our claim sounds almost too simple. A lot of what we call burnout is a shortage of two things our great-grandparents had plenty of. Sunlight and salt.

We have been told for fifty years that salt is dangerous and the sun is dangerous, and so we have hidden from both. We eat low-sodium everything, we drink litres of plain water, and then we feel flat and foggy and cannot work out why. We spend the daylight hours inside under a bulb and wonder why we cannot sleep and why we feel so low in February.

We believe a body short on minerals feels remarkably like a body that is exhausted, and a body short on daylight feels remarkably like a body that is low, and that before you decide you have either of those things it is worth trying a pinch of proper salt in a glass of water in the morning and half an hour outside at midday.

Real salt, unrefined, with the minerals still in it. Real daylight, not through glass. Both cost almost nothing, and both are worth a week of your life to test.
